Scale Rubber Class Report from Ardur round !

Just a couple of lines to let you know how the weekend at Adur went for me.
A somewhat depleated turnout for this round saw those with a shot at the championship throwing all they had at this weekend. I needed a solid performance and result as all 6 rounds I am to complete this year are to count...no dropped scores.

Saturday saw the best of the weather with sunshine and a pleasant sea breeze. Grip was low for all racers, with any sort of racing line only visible late in the day. Set up on this tight track was going to be key, particularly because many of the corners were similar to one another and if you could set the car to corner well here, you would unlock the whole lap. By the end of practice on Saturday, I was reasonably happy with the setup albeit some distance away from my typical base setting start point.

Rain overnight saw a wet Sunday morning. The track soaked brought out the wet tyres for round 1, in which I managed to set the pace for the rubber shod cars, in fact a time that would have placed me 5th in the Foam A final.

Round 2 saw drying conditions which highlighted an imbalance in the car and meant that I dropped to second in the standings. By rounds 3 and 4, a completely dry track allowed me again to take the FTD being the only car to complete 18 laps and a solid 10 seconds ahead of Devendra Mahatme in second.

The Rubber final saw a light sprinkling of rain as the cars were on the line, and made for an interesting start to the race. Mechanics scrambled to organise wet tyres, but the rain shower passed quickly and the residual heat in the tarmac burned off the moisture. Having given away the lead in the opening laps, I could feel the grip coming to the drying circuit and I began to push. Within a few laps I had caught the leader, and with a clean pass I took the lead which is where I would stay. Finishing on 95 laps with second place six laps behind.

It now becomes an almost mathematical certainty that Kyosho will take the BRCA 2010 Rubber title at Colchester.
